Volusia County continues to experience a remarkable transformation. Multiple projects, previously announced and under construction, are now being completed throughout the county. Excitement abounds throughout the county.
We have a great amount of activity, which is due to the extraordinary work of our engaged leadership, our public and private investors, as well as our partnerships with Volusia County's government and remarkable cities. In addition, we credit our close partnership with Enterprise Florida and local economic development organizations, including the CEO Business Alliance and the Volusia County Economic Development Division, for the ongoing success.
In January, Team Volusia EDC leadership, elected officials, community leaders and stakeholders gathered together at our 2018 Annual Meeting to celebrate 2017’s record year of accomplishments, a year which all goals were exceeded. In 2017, seven projects were announced, including 1,303 jobs with an annual payroll of $46.7 million and capital investment of $55.3 million. During the year, Team Volusia staff executed over 30 outreach initiatives while hosting four familiarization tours, bringing prospects to town. Special thanks go to my professional staff…the hardworking team behind every success we enjoy.
Furthermore, Florida Trend is planning to highlight Volusia County in the upcoming August 2018 issue. Team Volusia is proud to be the section sponsor for the Volusia County Community Profile. In February, Florida Trend hosted three informational meetings where business leaders and elected officials gathered to discuss key assets with Florida Trend’s publisher, Andy Corty, and key members of his team.
Currently, we are implementing our three-year comprehensive Strategy of Success. One of the initial recommendations was to form a Real Estate Task Force to explore the options of increasing Volusia County’s marketability to businesses looking to expand or relocate. Team Volusia investor and Ormond Beach City Commissioner, Dwight Selby, has graciously offered to serve as chair of the task force. Members include top Volusia real estate professionals, developers and landowners.
I continue to be encouraged by our strong pipeline of projects for 2018. In the past several weeks, we have opened numerous projects and have hosted companies who are interested in expanding or relocating to Volusia County. Our activity level remains strong.
Thank you for your continued investment and support as together we raise the economic vitality of Volusia County.
Best regards,
Keith A Norden, CEcD
